Doreen Monk passed away peacefully at Willen Hospice on 18th September 2017, a day after her 84th birthday.
Born in Tottenham, London and lived in Luton before moving to Milton Keynes, she was a much loved friend amongst the D/deaf community, with a beautiful smile, and she was always ready to listen and help.
She was a college tutor for deaf students, many of whom remember her fondly, and she was President of the Milton Keynes Branch of Hearing Dogs. She loved her little white Hearing Dog Larrie, who accompanied her to all deaf club events in Luton, Bedford and Milton Keynes.
She was very interested in the formation of the MKDZ and was a member of the craft group. In her illness, she was determined to attend Wednesday afternoon club, where she was welcomed by all who knew her.
Doreen’s family have asked us to respect their wishes for us to not share this on Facebook. Please do the same and respect their wishes. Thank you.
